CCA-10B Handgun
The CCA-10B is a state-of-the-art handgun that was adopted by the CFMC after extensive testing proved it to be vastly superior to the old 9B. Unlike other weapons utilized by the Marines, the 10B was designed and built exclusively for the CFMC, and this shows in its form and function. Compared to its Land Combat Force counterpart the CCA-5728 the 10B is lighter and sleeker, with a much higher ammo capacity and the ability to fire several different types of rounds.
The 10B is construct almost entirely of Titanium-V, with only the grip and trigger-guard constructed of nanocarbon polymers. Both materials are designed to be extremely lightweight and durable, and to function in extreme environments including the vacuum of space. The inside of the barrel is line with nanites that produce a synthetic lubricant, reducing the need for maintenance and increasing reliability. In addition, the nanites are capable of constricting or expanding the barrel within several millimeters, allowing for different rounds to be chambered.
Numerous features are built into the handgun to increase its usefulness. Most prominent are the four magnetic accelerators located on either side of the barrel, which can accelerate or slow down bullets as they are fired. This system also enables the gun to fire in three-round burst mode, by rapidly accelerating three shots, one after another. Because the gun fires caseless rounds, there is no slide, and therefore a stable red-dot scope is built into the top of the 10B. A laser sight is built in underneath the barrel, next to an IR laser that is used in conjunction with a HUD display on most combat helmets. Also built into the gun is a special recoil-mitigation system, which accounts for the slight bulge near the bottom of the weapon.
Magazine capacity for the 10B varies depending on what round it is chambered for; 14 rounds for the standard 10mm Hellbent, 15 rounds for the 9mm Kepler, 10 rounds for the .45 Turner, and 5 rounds for the .50 Super Ark. All of these rounds are caseless, and thanks to a chip built in to all 10B magazines, adjusting the gun's settings for each type of round is as simple as sliding in a new magazine. Due to recoil concerns, three-round burst mode is disabled for the .45 Turner and .50 Super Ark.
The 10B is fully ambidextrous, with a fire selector located on both sides of the gun. It features semi-automatic and three-round burst fire, and is weight balanced for quick-draw. The internal battery lasts for five years with regular use, while the magnetic accelerators require tuning once every six months, a procedure which can be done in the field with a Magnetic Harmonizer.
