Overview
The Federal Land Combat Force is the planetary combat force of the CUAF, and the second oldest military branch in the nation, with a long and storied history that stretches back to the earliest days of the First Federation. The FLCF acts as the primary land assault force for the UCR, and is tasked with seizing control of enemy or foreign planets, as well as defending and securing UCR-owned planets. Under the leadership of the General Of Of The Federal Land Combat Force, the FLCF is the second force deployed to planets, usually to take out or investigate targets identified by the preceding Marines. Though they rely on the UCN for transportation, the FLCF does operate five of its own which operate in instances where a full naval deployment would be either impractical or unwarranted. Unlike the Marines, the FLCF is not under the command of the UCN, and direct leadership of the FLCF is provided by the Land Combat Command Administration.
Under the general auspices of the Unified Special Operations Command, the FLCF maintains three of the UCR's four elite Tier 1 special forces units; the 1st Advanced Operations Detachment-Alpha (1st AOD-A), the Special Operations And Tactics Battalion (SPOT), and the Unconventional Warfare Application Group. The FLCF operates, in conjunction with the UCN, the Long Range Threat Detection System (a military scanning network) and the vast network of GALENET arrays around the UCR that form the backbone of the nation's communication infrastructure. In their capacity as the other defenders of a planet (aside from the UCN), the FLCF operates the Planetary And Orbital Defense Networks of any planet that has one in place. Because the CUAF lacks a proper "air force", the FLCF operates the Atmospheric Aerial Combat Army (AACA), which operates the FLCF's air vehicles.
